Escuela de Primavera sobre Ciencia de la Complejidad

Spring School in Complexity Science
Universidad de Southampton , 29 Marzo-12 Abril, 2006

(A limited number of FREE places are available for students - see below).

ECS at the University of Southampton is offering four short courses and a two-day symposium on topics in Complexity Science in Easter 2006. Participants are welcome to attend the entire 15 day intensive school or may attend one or more individual events.
Course 1: Introduction to Complexity science (5 days)Wednesday 29 March to Sunday 2 April.
Registration 10:30 am Wednesday 29 MarchReception evening of 29th.A social event is planned for the afternoon of Sunday the 2nd after the introductory course ends.

Symposium: Spatially embedded complex systems (2 days) Monday 3 April and Tuesday 4 April.

Courses 2a and 2b (Wednesday 5 April to Saturday 8 April) are held concurrently in parallel streams. These courses cover fairly complementary topics and participants may choose which to attend.

Course 3: Evolution of Complexity (4 days) Sunday 9 April to Wednesday 12 April

(Accommodation check-out is by 11am on the 12th) and the last day is expected to end before 5pm on the 12th.

These new courses are designed for postgraduate students (perhaps early in their PhD studies or on masters courses) and industrial employees wishing to learn about the principles and challenges of complexity in natural and engineered systems. The courses are designed to addresses the critical challenges currently facing the computational and engineering industries by focusing on the underlying principles of complexity in common with biological systems.

Places are limited and all applicants are requested to please complete and return the registration form promptly. Please see the course web page: www.sense.ecs.soton.ac.uk/spring-school.php for details.
